CLASSES
Fall 2020 In-Person Classes Are Cancelled Due to COVID-19
We hope to see you in the Spring!
We believe that utilizing the highly effective Orff methodology of teaching music allows for music classes filled with variety, inclusiveness, and success; every child can participate at their own ability level and pace. Activities are carefully chosen to fit our students, and are always high quality activities that continue to grow the music literacy of any child participant. Our classes also provide Music Majors with invaluable experience in the teaching field. Not only are they participating in planning and teaching, but they are being consistently mentored, receiving feedback and teaching tools they can implement in their on professional careers. Oso Musical’s leadership is also using what is taught and learned in weekly meetings to educate other professional music educators across the state of Texas, presenting research at music education conferences.
Classes are currently offered once a week (with the exception of Baylor observed holidays), running on a semester-to-semester basis. We meet on Monday evenings from 6:30-7:15PM. A retired, certified music teacher and a small group of Baylor music major undergraduates teach the class; activities are done as a group, and are not designed to be music therapy, but true music class lessons, always with varied learning styles in mind. Parents will not be required to provide any materials, nor do they need to be present in class (we have a nice seating area just down the hall for you to enjoy). We are currently accepting applications for children grades Pre-K (4 years old) through 12th grade-- please check out our "Register" section to complete the online application, or contact us at osomusicalbaylor@gmail.com to be sent an application or to request any further information or ask questions!
